Contractor cyberattack knocks out federal trucking-safety help line
A cyberattack on government contractor Senture disrupted the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s contact center, which assists truck and commercial-vehicle operators using a new registration platform. The Transportation Department says agency data was not compromised, but the investigation continues and the attack’s timing remains unclear.
A cyberattack on government contractor Senture temporarily disabled the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s contact center, cutting off phone support for drivers and operators of large trucks and other commercial vehicles, the Transportation Department said Oct. 14, 2026.
The help line serves people registering through Motus, a new online platform. The department said the attack brought down Senture’s network domain, including its phone capabilities. It said FMCSA data was not compromised and that an investigation is underway.
The agency first reported technical difficulties with its contact center on social media Oct. 6. Officials have not said when the attack began or whether it was still affecting the contractor’s systems as of Oct. 14.
The disruption put a basic service used by commercial vehicle operators out of reach by phone. The department did not provide details about the attacker, the duration of the outage or when full service would be restored.
